NHS Orthodontic Treatment in Epping, Essex

Our practice has a contract with the NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board and where possible we offer a full range of NHS orthodontic treatments for patients up to age 18, who are eligible under the criteria.

  • NHS treatment provides children under the age of 18 with braces if their need is considered severe enough under strict government guidelines. This applies to every orthodontic practice throughout the country.
  • NHS treatment is offered to children who have the most serious orthodontic problems with their teeth.
  • We endeavour to see all new patients referred to us for NHS treatment evaluation as quickly as possible. The initial appointment will include photographs and x-rays allowing our orthodontists to grade patients and make decisions regarding treatment plans and eligibility for NHS treatment.
  • Patients who are found to be eligible for NHS orthodontic treatment and would like go ahead will undoubtably be subject to a waiting list before can start treatment.

What happens if my child is not eligible for NHS Treatment?

If you find you child or teen is not eligible for NHS treatment, or they are interested in an aesthetic or low visibility brace, then in that case we can offer them treatment on a self-funded basis. We would be pleased to go through the treatment options for them and your child can still achieve a perfect smile. Sometimes it is possible to offer a reduced rate for those who do not qualify for NHS treatment.

There are more appliance types available on a self-funded basis, whereas under NHS treatment the options are generally limited to fixed metal braces.
