The Invisalign aligner system uses no brackets or wires – is it clear, removable and comfortable, so it won’t interfere with your appearance or your life. The traditional route to straightening teeth has long been visible, fixed braces, but with Invisalign no one need know you’re having treatment! Using Invisalign clear aligners, achieving the smile you always dreamed is no big deal.

What is Invisalign?

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign aligner system straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. As you replace each aligner approximately every week, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.

Invisalign is suitable for adults of any age (baring existing dental health problems) and teenagers. We know that a straight smile often means a healthy smile, so not only will Invisalign clear aligners straighten your teeth, they can also help improve your overall dental health.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

  • Low visibility – Invisalign aligners are made from a clear, medical grade plastic that means they are virtually invisible when placed over your teeth.
  • Removable – your oral health won’t be affected by Invisalign aligners because you remove them for eating as well as brushing and flossing the teeth.
  • Confidence – wearing Invisalign aligners won’t affect your lifestyle as you can still play sports, musical instruments, go out with friends and feel confident at work, because they are not very noticeable.
  • Comfortable – no metal brackets or wires to irritate your gums or mouth. Invisalign aligners have clinically proven results and they can often straighten teeth as fast as traditional fixed braces!

Step 2

Your Invisalign Smile Visualisation

If Invisalign is right for your needs, we will create your Smile Visualisation using our state-of-the-art 3D imaging scanner. This procedure is completely non-invasive, pain-free and just takes a few minutes. You will be able to see the results of your scan and this will show you how your new smile could look. We will also explain how Invisalign treatment works and give you a guide to timescales and costs.

Step 3

Invisalign treatment planning

We will also take photographs of your teeth and smile, together with your detailed 3D scan, these will help our Invisalign technicians to create your aligners. After agreeing to start the treatment the next step will be to submit your details so your bespoke Invisalign aligners can be manufactured.

Once your aligners have arrived at the practice an appointment is arranged for you to collect them and begin the treatment process. At that appointment we explain what you need to know as your teeth straightening begins as well as how we will monitor your progress.

Step 4

During treatment

You will receive an aligner for every planned tooth movement made during treatment and you will need to change the aligners every 7-14 days at home. Aligners must be removed for eating, brushing/flossing and contact sport but otherwise need to be worn at all times. If worn as prescribed, normally 22 hours per day, you will get the results you are looking for!

Step 5

Completing Treatment

Once you have completed your orthodontic treatment with Invisalign aligners and have created that beautiful new smile, it’s very important to ensure that the teeth don’t move following treatment. This is achieved by wearing custom-made Retainers which help to ensure that your teeth stay straight and you keep your new smile.

INVISALIGN FAQS

How much does Invisalign treatment cost?

The exact cost will depend on your orthodontic requirements and how many aligners you will need to achieve your desired results. Please see our Fees page for how much Invisalign treatment approximately costs in Epping, Essex, but for a detailed costing based on your bespoke treatment plan, please book a consultation at The Specialist Orthodontic Practice.

How does the Invisalign clear aligner system work?

Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that offers you the choice of wearing a clear and removable appliance while straightening and aligning your teeth. The treatment is completely bespoke and uses a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners which help shift the position of the teeth. Invisalign in Epping, Essex with The Specialist Orthodontic Practice team can take from as little as four months and can be easily removed when eating and brushing your teeth.

What is the minimum age of a patient that can be treated with Invisalign Teen aligners?

There is no official minimum age limit for Invisalign Teen treatment, but patients must have most of their adult teeth and be old enough to adhere to the regimen of wearing the aligners for 22 hours a day. It is an individual decision – some preteens will meet these requirements, and some teenagers will not.

How often must I visit the practice once I have started Invisalign treatment?

Because your Invisalign treatment is bespoke and will differ from other people’s plans, the timing of your office visits vary from patient to patient. However, people undergoing Invisalign treatment typically need to visit their orthodontist every four to six weeks or so.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Everyone’s Invisalign treatment plan is unique, so treatment lengths can take from three months to 18 months. For example, if you want to correct some slight crowding, then you can expect to see fast results. Whereas, for more complex bite conditions, the length of time can extend to 12 or 18 months.

How long do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners each day?

We recommend wearing the Invisalign aligners for about 22 hours a day. They are designed to be comfortable and nearly invisible, making it easy to wear them as you do everyday activities. You will only need to remove the aligners to eat, brush your teeth and to clean them. At The Specialist Orthodontic Practice in Epping, Essex we will give you a step-by-step plan on how to use the Invisalign clear aligners.

Is the Invisalign treatment painful?

When compared to other orthodontic treatments, Invisalign aligners are less painful than traditional metal braces. The discomfort you might experience with Invisalign will feel like an uncomfortable, tight squeezing sensation around your teeth. However, this is typically a normal and mild experience only during the first day or so of wearing each new set of aligners. There are no wires to hurt your gums or cheeks.
